WES Survey Field Crew Chief Position Expectations
A Land Surveying Field Crew Chief will oversee the daily field operations of a Land Survey Crew. They will determine the most efficient plan of action for field surveys through all field project phases. They are proficient with documentation of work performed, field notes and sketches. The Crew Chief communicates daily with the Chief of Crews, the associated Project Manager and technician regarding the project schedule and progress of work. They periodically interact professionally with client representative and landowners. They have the ability to read and interpret drawings/specifications and understand all aspects of the land survey project specifications and tolerances. They perform regular field QA/QC checks to ensure the data collected is accurate. They conduct routine safety precautions including, but not limited to, daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reviews, near miss reporting and incident reporting. Crew Chiefs prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork. They oversee the maintenance of the field vehicle and field equipment.
What WES Needs From Our Team Member
- 5+ Years of Industry Experience, Prior Crew Chief Experience is Preferred
- Competent Operating Total Stations, GNSS Receivers, Data Collectors, Tablet PCs, Digital Scanning Equipment is Not Required but a Bonus
- Experience with Trimble Equipment is Preferred
- Computer & Technical Skills
- Professional Verbal Communication Skills
- Ability to Work in All-Weather Climates
- Ability to Walk Long Distances Through a Variety of Terrains & Carry Equipment
- Coordinate with Chief of Crews & Project Manager to Ensure Project Requirements are Met in the Field
- Proven Work History & Strong Work Ethic
- Ability to Identify & Troubleshoot Issues & Problem Solve Accordingly
- Ability To Successfully Perform Within A Team Environment
