WES Survey CAD Technician Expectations
The Survey CAD Technician supports land surveying projects by preparing and processing survey drawings, plats, maps, and legal descriptions under the supervision of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) and/or Surveyor in Training (SIT) Project Manager. This role involves daily processing of field data, drafting and revising survey documents, performing research on land records and property boundaries, and coordinating with field teams to support accurate data collection. The Survey CAD Technician ensures all deliverables meet company quality standards, client requirements, and applicable Texas State laws and TBPELS regulations while utilizing AutoCAD and related surveying software to produce accurate and compliant survey documents.
Specific Responsibilities
- Prepare Plats, Field Notes & Control Drawings
- Direct Abstracting, As Needed
- Prepare Deed Sketches
- Performs Daily Processing of Field Data
- Prepares Maps As Directed By An RPLS Project Manager
- Prepares Metes & Bounds Description
- General Understanding of Survey Drawings
- General Understanding of Survey Data, Parcel Information & Topography
- Update Drawings to Reflect Redlines As Directed By Senior Staff
- Process Field Data and Perform Initial CAD Work on Survey Deliverables
- Perform Deed Research, Deed Plotting & Map Checks
- Prepare Land Survey Plats and Drawings, Legal Descriptions & Alignment Drawings
What WES Needs From Our Team Member
Requirements:
- 2 – 5 + Years of AutoCAD Experience
- Strong Proficiency of Software Such as AutoCAD, Carlson C&G, Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Office Suite – Knowledge in MicroStation & ORD is a Bonus
- Assist in Preparing Field Survey Work Requests & Appropriately Communicating Project Needs with Field Team Members
- Professional Written & Verbal Communication Skills Both Externally & Internally
