Engineer in Training (EIT) Position Expectations 

WES is seeking a motivated Civil Design Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with at least one (1) Year relevant experience in Site Development, Land Development, and/or Transportational Public Infrastructure. Candidates should be familiar with developing deliverables involving roadways, grading, drainage, erosion control, and/or wet utilities. AutoCAD - Civil3D proficiency is required for this role. On-the-job training & resources are available to refine drafting & design skills. The position will primarily involve the production of Civil Plan Sets for Commercial Site Development and Public Roadway Projects. Cross-training opportunities, if desired, to learn in depth Land Surveying Drafting will be available. Specific Responsibilities 

  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil3D to Assist Engineers in the Production of Project Drawings
  • Create & Organize Project Documentation & Design Information Using Standard Office Software
  • Perform Internet-Based or In-Person Project Research
  • Attend Project Meetings/Field Visits and Communicate with Project Stakeholders as Appropriate with Guidance from the Project Manager
  • Conduct QC Checks of Work Produced 
  • Work with Project Manager to Ensure Schedules & Productivity Objectives for Preparation of Deliverables are Reached
  • Assist Project Managers in the Execution of Engineering Projects, Including but Not Limited to the Production of Plans, Specifications, Cost Estimates, & Construction Phase Services
  • Develop Design Alternatives for Feasibility Reports & Compare Significant Parameters Such as Typical Sections, Horizontal & Vertical Alignments, Right of Way Requirements & Cost
  • Submit Plans & Specifications That Comply with Preexisting State & Municipality Requirements and Correspond with Local Agencies for Permitting and Approval
  • Prepare Written Reports & Proposals Using Approved Company Formats with Guidance from the Project Manager
  • Other Duties as Assigned 


What WES Needs From Our Team Member 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Related Field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate or Ability to Obtain EIT Certificate within 6 Months of Hire Date
  • At Least 1 Year of Industry Related Work Experience in a Professional Capacity
  • Demonstrated Civil Engineering Project Experience for Both Mid to Large Scale Site Development, Land Development, and/or Transportation Projects
  • Strong Proficiency in AutoCAD - Civil 3D; Ability in Microstation or Other Industry Software is a Bonus
  • Professional Written & Verbal Communication Skills Including the Ability to Proactively Coordinate with Outside Parties
  • Ability to Establish & Maintain Effective Working Relationships with Other Employees, Clients & Public Agencies
  • Ability to Identify & Troubleshoot Issues & Problem Solve Accordingly
  • Drive to Meet or Exceed Aggressive Deadlines While Maintaining Teamwork & Collaboration with Clients, Team Members & Sub-Consultants
  • Ability to Work Outside of Normal Business Hours as Required to Meet Project Deadlines
  • Must Be Reliable & Dependable
  • Authorized to Work Permanently in the United States
